Walk & Wag - "Helping Great Pet Owners Manage Busy Schedules"

Bio Growing up I was surrounded by animals in one way or another and we always had a family dog. Christie arrived when I was 1 year old, she was a beautiful Dalmatian and when she first came in the door I promptly bit her (lightly) on the rump! I have since stopped biting dogs...chuckle. We then had Pepe (a Maltese mix who was amazingly patient whilst I dressed him up in various doll clothes and he had a love of Dofeno cheese) and Tuffy an incredibly smart Sheppard mix and then Teddy ( a Bishon who loved to get up with my mother in the morning to share her toast). Meanwhile our Italian neighbors had many cats that lived outside and roamed freely ( it was the country back then) and I would frequently visit them & carry them around in my arms.  We also had acouple of horses ( Georgie Girl and Mr. Diplomat, Mr. D. for short) and when Streetsville was still in the country we boarded them close by at a farm that used to exist at Creditview & Eglinton.  I learned to ride when I was 8 and was lucky enough to go to riding camps in the summer! As an adult I have had my own animals "Jack a beautiful big long haired tabby and "Mikie" an extremely gentle 5 pound Maltese Terrier who was not only half the size of the cat but raised by him as well & throughout his life still maintained certain cat characteristics like batting things and kneading his bed. I always laughed about the fact that Mikie ate like a cat (playing with one piece at a time then eating it) and Jack the cat ate like a dog (he could never get enough)! As a child I had always wanted to become a Veterninarian however life took me in in a different direction where I found myself living in Toronto working hard to support myself at the age of 16 sometimes working 2+ jobs!  I am proud to say that all the hard work and determination has served me well and was a good character builder. I moved back to Streetsville in 1999 and spent 10 years working for a business centre in Central mississauga, starting out running the front reception for 3 years before being promoted to Office Manager and ran the day to day operations for 7 years. After losing my mother suddenly to a stroke in 2006 I decided to re-evaluate what was important to me and as much as I loved my boss I didn't love working in a office any longer.  Although it took me 3 years I decided to take some time to rediscover my passion... and yup, you guessed it, it was animals!... and always has been!  Veterinary school is not an option for me now however I can walk them and love them just the same, so I decided to build a business that I am passionate about and that hopefully helps pet owners manage that day to day juggles of having animals and a busy life!
